Self-motivation and independence to choose the path that is best for you are important qualities of a successful Premier High School graduate. Traci Vandlandingham knew that her path was to follow in her dad’s footsteps into the refinery and manufacturing industry. She is proud to be graduating from the process technology program at Lee College in the fall of 2020 and feels prepared to become an operator or process technician.
“No matter how big your dreams are, they’re never out of reach,” says Traci. Her dreams are big and she knows her education was the key to a brighter future. Traci plans to gain an internship at Huntsman Corporation, an American multinational manufacturer and marketer of chemical products for consumers and industrial customers. Hoping to be hired following her internship, she wants to use that experience to eventually work for ExxonMobil, an oil and gas corporation headquartered in Irving, Texas. “Nothing is impossible.”
Traci says that, while at Premier High School, teachers constantly encouraged her to go above and beyond and ensured her that she had the skills to graduate. Even staying late to tutor her, teacher Ashly Howard was dedicated to supporting Traci and her dreams.
“If you’d told me I would be where I am today, I would have laughed and brushed it off. But the opportunities are endless,” says Traci. “Don’t sell yourself short, chase your dreams and live out loud.”
