Responsive Education Solutions® (ResponsiveEd®) is opening a new Premier High School on the west side of San Antonio at 6218 NW Loop 410. The school will provide students with an opportunity to pursue a high school diploma through ResponsiveEd’s mastery-based academic program. Premier High School offers students early graduation options, a safe environment, a flexible schedule and the ability to recover credits.

With the addition of the new campus for the 2017-2018 school year, Premier High School of San Antonio West, ResponsiveEd will operate 35 Premier High School campuses in Texas and Arkansas. Vice President of School Activations for ResponsiveEd, Anthony Edwards, says the charter school operator decided to add a second campus in San Antonio because of the demand in the community.

“It is really important to make as many Premier High Schools available as possible to students who need a fresh start. There just are not enough graduation options for our students. Our program offers a vital way for students in the area to earn their high school diplomas early or complete something they might not otherwise finish and get ready for college and careers,” he says.

Manuella Allen will serve as the campus director for Premier High School of San Antonio West. Currently, she is the campus director at Premier High School of  Amarillo. Allen has  11 years experience as a teacher and six years experience as a campus director. Her focus is to help students set goals and find hope.

“A lot of kids come into our program thinking they are terrible students and without a clear goal. It is like being blindfolded and being told to drive a car. Our mission is to help them get back on track by creating goals and by discovering the steps needed to reach those goals,” says. Allen.

At Premier High Schools students work independently through ResponsiveEd’s knowledge units, which requires them to show mastery through unit exams. This allows them to slow down when they encounter difficult concepts and accelerate their pace when they understand the content. When they have questions, teachers are available to help them one-on-one. The individualized nature of the program allows teachers to know the needs and strengths of each student.

“Our teachers really know and care about their students. Because students stay with the same teacher every day, they really get to know each other. This helps create a safe environment where teachers have the time to help students overcome any challenges they face,” says Allen.

The school will serve 9th-12th graders and will offer a more concentrated school day, which allows students to complete their education while working.

ResponsiveEd has been present in the San Antonio community since 2010 when it opened The Foundation School for Autism. Since then it has opened Premier High School of San Antonio East in 2015 and Founders Classical Academy of Schertz in 2016.

The school is accepting applications for the 2017-2018 school year. For more information, please call 210-920-0010 or visit www.premierhighschools.com.
