Now a radiologic technologist and with an associate\u2019s degree from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.actx.edu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Amarillo College<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Vanderford is proud to say that she is the first of her family to graduate college. She is already considering returning to school to earn a bachelor\u2019s degree.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3612\" style=\"width: 220px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/responsiveednewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_2835-e1567095853646.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3612\" class=\" wp-image-3612\" src=\"https:\/\/responsiveednewsroom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_2835-e1567095853646-300x281.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"https:\/\/responsiveed.com\/responsiveed-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/08\/IMG_2835-e1567095853646-300x281.jpg 300w, https:\/\/responsiveed.com\/responsiveed-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/08\/IMG_2835-e1567095853646-768x719.jpg 768w, https:\/\/responsiveed.com\/responsiveed-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/08\/IMG_2835-e1567095853646-1024x959.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3612\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jenny Vanderford walks with her fellow graduating classmates.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Her achievements did not come easily and she admits that hospital clinicals were difficult. \u201cI knew my end goal, I knew that if I kept going, it was going to be worth it, so I kept pressing on,\u201d says Vanderford. \u201cI learned to be very goal-oriented and that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Vanderford says that the teaching staff at Vista Academy of Amarillo helped her to stay positive and to not get down or discouraged. This positivity is something that Vanderford hopes to carry over into her own professional life knowing that she\u2019ll be interacting with patients who are dealing with medical issues of their own. \u201cI have the opportunity to be one of the only nice faces people might see in a day,\u201d she says. \u201cYou never know what people are going through, so I make it a point to be as kind as possible to everyone because it could make a huge difference in their day.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When asked if she has any advice for soon-to-be graduates, she encourages people to follow their dreams and be patient with themselves. \u201cDo what you&#8217;re passionate about,\u201d says Vanderford. \u201cIf you don&#8217;t know right away what you want to do, don&#8217;t worry.
